All orders are made online, we do not have visitor accessible premises.


UK: We use Royal Mail signed for/special delivery service to post our parcels. We aim to despatch orders within 1-2 working days. Royal Mail typically take 1-3 days to deliver.

Outside the UK: Overseas orders are initially handled by Royal Mail International (Air-mail) and then handed over the the delivery service in your country.

Orders outside the UK have an option of 2 delivery services; “International standard” & “International Tracked & Signed”. We recommend that you choose “International Tracked & Signed” as this gives you more protection for lost or damaged items.

Delivery times can vary but normally take approximately 3 to 5 working days in Europe and 7 to 10 working days outside Europe


If you live in the UK/Europe, 20% VAT will be applied to your order. The store prices include VAT and it’s then broken down clearly in your shopping cart. If you live outside the UK, VAT is not charged to you. When you update your shopping cart with your country of residence, VAT will be removed from the cost of your items.

Customs declarations

For orders outside UK/Europe, the actual cost of your products will be listed on the CN22 customs form on the outside of your parcel. We are unable to amend this value.

Your personal data will be used to provide the information, goods and services offered through our website to you, for billing and order fulfillment.

Email newsletter
If you sign up to our newsletter we may use your email address to send you information about products or services.
You can opt out of these at any point and you can ask for personal data to stop being recorded at any time.

Product information
We describe our products and services to the best of our ability. Errors and omissions may occur. In the event of an error being made e.g. In the price of a product we reserve our right not to fulfill that order.

Right to cancel
All UK/Europe customers have the right to cancel their orders under the The Distance Selling Regulations which gives consumers extra protection when buying online. Specific legislation here that applies is regulation of The Distance Selling Regulations.

You have the right to cancel the purchase of a good without having to give a reason at any time within the “cooling off period” of fourteen days, beginning on the day after you receive the goods.

If you are in possession of the goods you are under the duty to retain them and take reasonable care of them. You must send the goods back to us to our contact address at your own cost (unless we delivered the item to you in error or the item is damaged or defective) as soon as possible once you have canceled the contract.

Once you’ve told us that you wish to return an item, it should be returned to us within 14 days. We suggest using a tracked postal service as the goods remain your responsibility until we receive them in resalable and unused condition. A refund will be provided to you within 14 days of us receiving them.

We reserve the right to make a charge not exceeding our direct costs of recovering the goods if you do not return the goods or return them at our expense.

Once you have notified us that you wish to cancel the contract, any sum debited to us will be refunded to you as soon as possible and in any event within 14 days of your cancellation.

Only goods purchased from the Blackbird Ink or Mabie Todd website can be returned to us. If you bought a product through a retailer, your return should be sent to them.

You will not have any right to cancel a purchase for the supply of any of the following goods:

  • The supply of goods made to your specifications e.g where you have placed an order and we have produced or manufactured goods specifically for that order
  • The supply of goods which have been personalised
  • Goods which have been used, including opened bottles of ink

All notices you send us must be sent to the contact details on this site (link). We may give notice to you at either the email or postal address you provide to us when making a purchase. (Notice will be deemed received and properly served 24 hours after an email is sent or three days after the date of posting of any letter.) In providing the service of any notice, it will be sufficient to prove, in the case of a letter, that the letter was properly addressed, stamped and placed in the post and, in the case of an email that the email was sent to the specified email address of the addressees.

These terms are governed by English law. Any contract for the purchase of goods from this site and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with any such contract will be governed by English law. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction. However, if you are a resident in Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland, and if you are a resident in Scotland you may also bring proceedings in Scotland.
